Alexander Schönberg

What product or service do you offer?
I am building WOMD, Word of Mouth Digital, a platform that makes personal recommendations digital, trackable, and rewarding. Instead of only telling a friend about a great hair salon, gym, or restaurant, our system allows users to share and receive trusted recommendations digitally, while businesses can attract new customers more effectively.

Why did you choose to start your own business?
I’ve always been motivated by building something of my own and solving real problems that I see around me. The idea for WOMD started with a simple conversation during a haircut, we talked about how recommendations work and how powerful they are. That sparked the thought that some everyday behaviours could be improved and turned into something valuable for everyone involved. I want to create solutions that feel natural, easy to use, and truly beneficial for both people and businesses.

What challenges have you encountered?
Since I’m still in the early stage, one challenge has been figuring out how to validate the market properly, understanding what to measure and how to confirm that there’s a real need for this type of solution. Another challenge has been starting out alone and realizing I need a stronger network and people with technical skills to complement me. These are natural parts of moving from an idea to something real.

How has Student Innovation by LiU supported you?
They have helped me clarify my next steps and better understand how to evaluate and shape my business idea. I’ve also received guidance on my own profile and what support and skills I might need to move forward. Overall, it has been very valuable to get structured advice and encouragement in the early stage.

Tell us a little about yourself!
My name is Alexander, I’m 25 years old and from Stockholm. I’m in my fourth year of the Business and Economics program at Linköping University. Right now, I’m working on this idea on my own, exploring how to shape and develop it further. I’m passionate about entrepreneurship and turning new ideas into real solutions that help people and businesses. In my free time, I enjoy playing golf, cook and spending time with friends and family.

Are you looking for help or potential co-founders with any specific skills?
I’m looking for a motivated co-founder who wants to build this idea together from the ground up and is ready to put in time and energy. Ideally, someone with experience in technology, for example app or web development, and who is interested in growing their skills further while taking the lead on the technical side of the project. If this sounds interesting, feel free to reach out to me at alesc646@student.liu.se
