This challenge is presented by Norrköpings kommun in collaboration with Kårservice, Norrköping Science Park, and Visualiseringscenter C. Together, they want to strengthen Norrköping as an attractive student city by fostering a stronger, more inclusive innovation culture that connects students, the city, and local industry.
Background
Norrköping offers a unique combination of a vibrant campus environment, strong collaboration between public and private actors, and an emerging innovation ecosystem. Despite this, many students are not fully aware of the opportunities available to them during their studies. Activities, networks, and support systems exist, but they can feel fragmented and difficult to navigate.
At the same time, broader societal trends create additional pressure. A declining youth demographic means fewer potential students in the future, while competition between cities and campuses makes it harder to attract and retain talent. Many students also experience uncertainty regarding career opportunities, which affects their engagement and willingness to stay in the city after graduation.
As a result, students often remain within their study programs, missing opportunities to build networks, engage with local actors, and develop a stronger connection to the city. This weakens both the student experience and the long-term talent retention in Norrköping.
